Alex joined the SSRG in June of 2016. He holds a B.S. in meteorology from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, and is currently an Earth and Atmospheric Sciences M.S. student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Alex's main research focus will be on environments of convective initiation. Looking to improve understanding of CI and forecasting it, he plans to take an operational perspective utilizing data from the IMeT and unmanned aircraft systems. This will allow for CI to be explored observationally, as well as theoretically.
Prior to joining the SSRG, Alex was part of Dr. Craig Clark's Lake Michigan lake-effect snow research group at Valparaiso University, as well as being a participant on two summer convective field studies in the Great Plains. Alex is excited to have the opportunity to study convection, while living in the Great Plains during thunderstorm season.
